Update on Website
April 23, 2010
The website project has grind to a halt on the premise that, i dont think its worth promoting the site dew to the slew of competition.. I was (and in fact still am) without a descently functioning computer of my own, which means i havent been able to edit my own video content, and update the videos with as much regularity as id like to. However there has been a slight success story out of this. While making the site i decided it would be cool to post mp3′s, so i used the youtube interface to do so, including a nice HD graphic instead of a video. Well my youtube account has a decent following, i still get subscribers and comments now, although i havent updated my site in over a month the views are steadily ticking up. My idea is bascially to keep up with uploading mp3′s to the account and build up my subscribers, its funny because out of everything i did i didnt expect this to be the succsessfull at all. Im going to ride with it and keep uploading, the website is going to be on the backburner for now.
Netbooks
January 28, 2010
So i have an eclctic experience of netbooks to date ive only sampled one type really and thats the samsungs offering, with XP OS. Im a big fan of the windows XP and still use it up to this day. Its a very capable operating system that is very well supported, however, im not convinced of there use in netbooks, The OS is rather dated, the icons and themes look old. its seems a bit of a cop out just to put XP on an a netbook. So i look to the ipad, and even after all apple rants about how netbooks are not required, they release the Ipad, which in my opionion is gonna look a damn site more appealing then any netbook. Why, simply because of the OS, now, im not qualified much to talk about all netbook os’s because i havent yet sampled the linux notebook variety, but i have a sneaking suspsion, its not gonna be a patch on apple. The Apple develop there OS to run on its hardware. Great, this means the apps, ‘ just work’ less crashing less confguration just more time and effort makeing the experience effortless. My experience with netbooks is frustarting, im not even gonna go into the possibilities for the ipad, and its a shame because if these PC companies got together they could have actaully produced *gasp* a COMPLETE product. Instead of just throwing slapping random os’s and software on there machines. (imagine on dells netbook, you connect the internet and the netbook cannot even renders dells homepage!)
Long Overdue
January 28, 2010
Here goes, a long overdue update to my blog basically an update on the status of my project, well the website is up and running nowing and growing albeit slowly. The basic premise had to change a little to to my slow uptake and movement on ideas, my concept was stolen, if i had any movement i could have done this all of 2-3 years ago so ive learned a valuable lesson. When you get a good idea like that move on it, straight away! I still gonna keep piping on at it, even though the space is becoming somewhat saturated, im going to try and introduce new features faster then anybody else. we’ll see what come of it
New Project
August 14, 2009
The last few months ive taken in a lot still. Joined this twitter thing, and been browsing and looking around the internet in general. Seeing what people have been up to. Its giving me a lot of inspiration and importantly motivation.
I can say for the last 5 years I’ve had a music website project on my radar. At first it was to do with selling music online, and it’s evolved and changed as times go on. I’ve sat down talked and even wrote about it but never got my idea off the ground. In 2007 I started a project while I was in uni called urban music station. (I hate the name now), where we basically brought all the urban music videos off the web into one place, you could search comment and rate them. The site I think was a descent design, but I gave up on it, I didn’t promote it, and when I got annoyed with the constant errors and maintenance I just gave up on the site.
Its 2009 and I’m looking back on the website and thinking, I cant believe I deleted it, and if I had my business head on I could have made it something, so I’m bringing it back. I’ve changed the concept up a bit, I’m looking to make my own videos and stuff now. Were going to be producing interviews, freestyles and hood videos.
The concepts sowed up and were in the process of buying the camera, and constructing the site now!!!
Vista Upgrade
July 13, 2009
After messing about on my cousin’s laptop, I’ve decided to do something new again. After holding out on Vista because, well for loads of reasons. I’ve decided to go for it. I am writing this from my fresh new installation.
Straight away I have come across a problem. My PC is old, and the soundcard on my motherboard works, but for some reason, it doesn’t output sound, I have no idea why. When the problem started I instantly started to use an old soundcard. So I have two in my computer, unfortunately after a lengthily internet search I cannot find a vista driver. So I see this vista problem now. Otherwise I’m pretty impressed, although a couple old games I used to play no longer work, the quality of vista seems alright. The point of me doing this, is to get used to Vista, after dodging it for how many years, ive realised when it comes to knowing my way around a vista machine, theres a lot I don’t know. This obviously is no help when I need to fix problems on peoples computers.
So im upgraded im gonna have to go out and buy myself a new soundcard now!
Hotmail
July 10, 2009
I’ve been using hotmail for years now, It was the successor to my old Yahoo mail account. But, I’m starting to realise the lure of Google mail. Yeah, I’m a bit late. I’ve seen all the internet hype but ignored it. Why would I change, hotmail served me perfectly well over the years.
But as I begin to embrace web2.0 more I find Microsoft products very restricting. I’ve seen the mess when you try to open an ms works word file on word 2003 (why are they even different). But my issue is with Hotmail, why is it so restricting. Why can’t I open my hotmail email on my mobile phone, why can’t I forward to a non-Microsoft account? Why have I got a hotmail account in the first place? I remember so I could start using MSN Chat.
Yes, I’ve finally realise how rubbish Hotmail really is and now I have to go through all the hassle of moving over to Google mail.
